My first encounter with Yamaha R1
Things which move fast have always fascinated me. I remember how I loved watching movies like speed and fast and furious over and over again. As I grew up I started developing interest in sports like formula 1 and moto gp. The faster the machines moved, the more rush of adrenaline flooded me. There was an urge within to be one of them on the tracks....well that urge or dream whatever u call it is still a dream :-( Talking of speed, recently I got the opportunity to be on the same platform with one of the fastest bikes in the world, yamaha R1, it was the occasion of official India Launch by the company. This mean machine was an absolute treat to watch...gawd...wish I cud ride it all over the place with no one to stop me. It has an astounding blend of beauty and the beast. It has such amazing curves and it runs like a hungry beast. We spent about an hour looking at every minor detail of this amazing human creation....there were so many eyes ogling at it but there is a small difference, only this time the eyes belonged to both the sexes....We had to pester the displaying guy all the time to finally get the opportunity to just get into the riding position and click a snap...I am so proud tht we managed it....As of now I am not in a position to be the worthy owner of it but the day i own it i will be on top of the world....
Slumdog Millionaire
hi guys...its been quite a sometime since i have added anything into my blog....well just a couple of weeks ago i saw the movie 'Slumdog Millionaire' at a frenz house. I had huge expectations from the movie as every piece of word i heard about it before watching was tantamount to it being considered as the movie of the year. As i started watching i started feeling a bit uneasy cos i was finding it really difficult to find people speaking in such fluent english. By people i mean the police constable and the inspector. If that wasnt enough the guy from mumbai slum is speaking in an accent that is mostly found in uk with his other friends and relatives from his neighborhood. Then the sequence in which they go across the country xploring the beauty and charisma of countryside, in the background a music is being played in which somebody is rapping in english and also some foreign language i guess, it felt so unrealistic. It felt as if i am watching some fast and furious movie with a train at 60km/h replacing the superfast bikes. If that wasnt enough the kids with no formal education in english becoming guides for foreign tourists overnight. Well i guess i am getting into too much detail. Lets come to the story. I have been to mumbai and i can tell u hw difficult it can be finding out people in the bizarre crowd where everybody is moving forward to grab that little amount of space created by the person in front but...the protagonist finds his girl 2-3 times without any external help that too at different ages. Well, everything is fare whn u show ppl in love, rt??? Now coming to the gameshow well i havent seen any host of any reality show making fun of the profession of a participant. Well he makes quite a few derogatory remarks and ridicules him of being a 'chaiwalah'. Anil Kapoor is lousy in his bit role as the quizmaster. I wont go into the details of the story as u r going to see the story of the luckiest person ever to keep his feet on earth. Now the music....well A.R.Rehman is a legend...his score here is mediocre when smone compares this with his prior compositions. If this can fetch Rehman 3 nominations in oscar, he should have by now won atleast 5-10 oscars. The final song is picturised very poorly, it felt absolutely out of context. Why the hell were people dancing on platforms of Mumbai VT and chanting 'Jai Ho', the choreography was also not upto the mark. One can say i am getting too critical, well there were quite a few things i liked about the movie. The cinematography and screenplay is stunning. There are some wonderful sequences in between which has the ability to overshadow all the loopholes in the story. The chemistry between th lead characters is worth a mention. The director has done a commendable job by xtracting every ounce of acting prowess from the non-actors at different stages of the film. Some sequences during the gameshow are captivating and enthralling. Well see the movie dont xpect too much like me and u will njoy bt please dont criticise it for showing poverty and crime in India as it is hardcore reality and the movie surely doesnt carry the burden of showing India to the world. Enjoy the movie...
